What's your age and athletic background?
I'm 45 years old with no real athletic background other than a desire to keep up with my 5 year old son and teach him how to ride dirt bikes...
What results since starting CrossFit?
I quickly dropped 20 lbs and have started to become much stronger. I'm much more conscious of how I move and feel like I'm really relearning how to move efficiently.
Any changes to your lifestyle or diet?
My lifestyle and diet have changed a fair bit in that I'm conscious of what I eat these days. I try to eat with a purpose and stay away from tan and beige foods opting for more salads and veggies.
How has your mindset towards fitness changed since starting CrossFit?
With CrossFit the act of becoming fit is a community goal. This has been very inspirational to me and has kept me going in the hard times and keeps me coming back for more. Working with other people and seeing them overcome challenges has helped demonstrate to me that I can overcome these challenges as well.
What's your favorite CrossFit movement or workout?
My body was designed to Squat.
Do you have any favorite CF gear?
I have a pair of hand-me-down Oly shoes that are my favorite. When I put them on it feels like I mean business....
Future athletic goals?
I'd like to try a "tough mudder" type event at some point and it would be nice to have the ability to get into a controlled handstand without the support of a wall. Frankly though I just like trying new things at this point and with CrossFit giving me a foundation of fitness, stamina and strength I feel like I can give anything a good try! "3-2-1-CrossFit!"
