What keeps me coming back each day..

The absolute best part of LLF are the friendships and the camaraderie that pushes each of us to do our best . Yesterday, was a great example of how it all works. At the start of our WOD ("Jerry" For time: Run 1m, Row 2k, Run 1m), Coach Swagger told us all at the beggining to pace ourselves and "not pr" the first mile. Thus, the first mile was all about pacing and talking sh@t "dallas, dude, your pr'ing, slow the F down..." and so on. Totally classic and totally fun. Rowing is grueling, but nodody wants to be last off the rower leaving ground to catch up on the run. Then there was the last 1/2 mile where everyone tries to tighten the gaps and prepare for the finish...

The last 1/8th of a mile becomes a full blown sprint, legs moving faster than anyone thinks possible. At the finish, its more sh@t talking, congratulations, support and critiques. Today is just one example and one WOD, but everyday its friends having fun, talking sh@t, and pushing each other to become thier very best - its certainly what keeps me coming back each day." -John F.

Back in 2007, I married my best friend Chris. This was around the time he got into CrossFit. I remember him obsessing and watching CrossFit videos all throughout the night. I called it his "CrossFit Porn" and was happy that "Nasty Girls" wasn't as nasty as it sounded. I knew that taking an interest into something he was so passionate about was something you do as a wife and as a best friend. So I decided to let him run me through my first WOD. I didn't even get through the warm-up of a mile run and some box jumps before I decided to quit. No, I didn't puke, but I cried. Ugh. Needless to say my ego was bruised, but I knew I needed to try again. I took one of his Saturday classes with two of my cousins and we did a team WOD. This is when I truly understood the CrossFit community of camaraderie and encouragement...

From then I was hooked. A year later we opened up LaLanne Fitness together. Two years after that, our family grew with the birth of our son, Jackson. Jackson has a mean squat and just the other day he did a back squat using his whiffle ball bat! It was his 1st PR. LOL! It was one of our proudest moments as parents. We consider every member of our gym family and we believe the family that WODs together, stays together. So here's to many more years of PR's!!!
