Zone Food Pyramid vs. U.S.D.A. Food Pyramid

As you can see there are some major differences between the two, especially when it comes to grains, starches, pasta and bread. Virtually every major study has found a strong association between eating fruits and vegetables and reductions in heart disease and cancer. No such correlations have ever been found for eating grains, starches pasta and bread. In fact, over consumption of such carbohydrates is the cause of 'hyperinsulemia', a condition linked to upper body obesity, glucose intolerance , hypertriglyceridemia and hypertension. If you still think eating lots of processed grains(cereals), starches(potatoes/rice), sugars(soda/candy), pasta and bread is good for you, ask someone who is overweight, has diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure what they have been eating for past several years.
