Sarah has always been serious about sports. She grew up playing soccer in Colorado and transitioned to jumping and hurdling on the track team in high school. She was recruited to Stanford as a triple and long jumper but halfway through her first year was converted to the hammer throw. By the time she graduated she held the school record and was honored as an All-American. Following her graduation from Stanford, she spent two years as a volunteer assistant throws coach while continuing to train. She finished her hammer career in third place at the 2008 Olympic Trials with a personal best throw of 68.60m. Following the Trials, Sarah spent a year running in the forests of Fontainebleau, France, and reflecting on what she could next focus her athletic energies.
I chose a Sports Medicine/Athletic Training major when an ankle injury sustained senior year in high school threatened my season. The doctor told me I would be out for 6 weeks. I went to the Certified Athletic Trainer and through structured rehabilitation and proper use of modalities, was back on the court in 1 week. I knew then and there what I wanted to learn. I started working in the sports medicine field in 1999. I have been fortunate enough to work as Head Athletic Trainer for a championship high school in the Miami area, at the collegiate level and was able to gain some experience overseas. I made the easy transition to personal training in 2003 and have since made it my career. I was able to take my rehabilitation and sports specific knowledge and apply it to the gym giving clients not only what they want but also what they need.
