07/17 - Day #7

Still wasn't feeling well from last night...quite possible I've developed a case of the stomach flu :(

10:30am
Fruit salad

4:00pm
Zaru udon (well...it was the best available option)

6:00pm
Watermelon
Blueberries

Not likely that I'll be eating much more for the rest of the day. Still going through ups and downs, hopefully everything will be back to normal tomorrow

Sleep: 10 hours
Water: Not much

07/16 - Day #6

Well. Rather than a cheat meal today, I deemed today a cheat day...I'm severely paying for it right now with a ton of bad choices and back to back bad meals.

8:00am
LaraBar

9:30am
Hard boiled egg
Grapes
Potato veggie sticks

1:00pm
Flank steak w/ teriyaki sauce
Bread. nuff said.
Yucca fries (...Dr. Cordain says no to yucca, but really?)

4:00pm
Fruit and nut bar
Iced black coffee

6:00pm
Watermelon
Apple slices

8:00pm
Dinner @ The House --AMAZING
A few pieces of calamari (mistake #1)
A few bites of soft-shell crab tempura (mistake #2)
Pork chop
Two pieces of nigiri sushi
Mango tapioca & peach melba (I won't call these mistakes, they were just too awesome)
1 decaf coffee

Sleep: 4 hours.....um. yeah.
Water: Not enough. Blah.
Supplements: Fish Oil - 1800mg, Vitamin D - 2000 IU

After eating those fried foods, I'm feeling overly sick to my stomach. Pretty sure that wasn't worth it...currently struggling to enjoy the rest of my night. Dim sum in the AM...pumped.

07/14 - Day #4

Post-WOD @ 9:30am:
Whey protein shake
1 handful of almonds
Mixed assortment of fruit
1/2 cup of black coffee

11:45am:
Cheat Meal #1 of 3
Pho Tai (and it was worth it!)

3:00pm:
Protein shake
Almonds

5:00pm:
Fruit & Nut bar

7:30pm:
3 slices of pork cutlet, seasoned with pepper, cooked in 1 teaspoon of olive oil
1 cup of broccoli
2 spoonfuls of guac
Apple slices

8:30pm:
LaraBar

Water: 110 oz. (PR haha!) needed to refuel the body after today's workout(s)
Sleep: 6.5 hours
Supplements: Fish Oil - 1800mg (thinking about increasing this), Vitamin D - 2000 IU, Whey

Observation: Looking at what I ate today, my intake was more than usual. Definitely associated with the harder/longer Thursday workout. Found myself hungrier than usual in the 2-3 hours between meals/snacks. My parents are coming this weekend so it's a known fact that I'm cheating on Sunday with some amazing dim sum, for starters. Likely that my other cheat meal will be associated with them as well. Won't be making it into the gym on Saturday/Sunday, so keeping myself strict in between cheat meals will be critical!

07/13 - Day #3

9:00am
1 grapefruit (made sure to cut it BEFORE going to work, FYI :D )
2 handfuls of almonds
Protein shake

11:30am
2 small pieces of pork cutlet (seasoned w/ pepper and garlic..YUM)
1 very large serving of broccoli
1 cup of homemade guac (also pure awesome)

3:30pm
More almonds...probably should cut back on the amount of almonds
1 apple

7:30pm
post WOD: Protein Shake & Trio Bar

8:30pm
Lemon garlic chicken & broccoli (taken from a Paleo blog, marinated the chicken overnight, definitely a go-to recipe with chicken & some time for prep)
Coconut water

9:30pm
Apple slices & almond butter...I won't lie, had a little too much gusto for the almond butter and probably consumed more than I should have.

Incredible what a cleaner diet and more water does for the body!

Water: 80oz...eh...could do better today
Sleep: 6 hours
Supplements: Fish Oil - 1800mg, Vitamin D - 2000 IU, Whey

Converted to the Paleo diet after listening to Dr. Cordain speak in January...pretty sure that changed my life. Went strict for 3 months and dropped about 20 lbs. of fat. Started to incorporate cheating on the weekends (I totally agree with you Brianne!), and began to notice the need to eat all the time. Got busy with work, had a lot festivities happen in May, and it all came to a pinnacle when I was sent to Philly for work and everything pretty much went to shit. Glad to be back on the stricter side (going 100% will not be feasible) of things. Going to try and put my best foot forward and limit weekend celebrations, so don't ask me if I want a tequila shot or a Blueberry Stoli & soda water on Friday AND Saturday.

Favorite blog: http://www.thefoodee.com/blog/ --Compiles Paleo recipes from various blog sites, supported by a TON of CF gyms around the country. Recipes I've found from range from "I'm Bobby Flay and better than you" to "I just googled 'How to eat a grapefruit'".

Your new best friends: Mr. Crock Pot & Ms. Food Processor. get to know them.

Last cheat day before the Paleo Challenge...definitely took down half of some Chicken Parm and some whole wheat pasta in North Beach and a sandwich from La Boulange. Go big or go home, apparently.

Challenges I'm facing:
1. Cutting back on coffee....damnit this is going to suck.
2. Cutting back on alcohol consumption...no comment
3. The diet that comes from traveling for work and living out of a suitcase
4. Reminding myself to take supplements!
5. Making sure I eat enough post-WOD

3-2-1 GO!
