I’m resurrecting this thread since I’ve wanted to post new goals for some time now. Time to get some ’09 action in here. John and Kelly, feel free to join in or ignore – our pal Paula probably would like the company.
Looking back at my old set of goals, I see that I wasn’t always diligent in keeping up my running and in doing Travel WODs on non-Brickhouse days. BUT I did work out at the Brickhouse 2x a week religiously since joining in September, and I’ve done best on my long-term goals:
Run a 5K race – OK, haven’t done this yet, but have started running regularly again, and am signed up to do the Plate to Plate 5K on Aug. 30, to benefit Project Open Hand, an organization dear to my hear. (Plus, you get to cross home plate at AT&T)
Hit for power in my softball league — hit a triple, am hitting line drives regularly, and my batting average (yes, we keep stats) is .230 higher than last year’s.
Built up arm strength to throw the ball from the outfield to the pitcher’s mound on a line — not quite there yet, but my throwing is stronger and I can definitely hit the cutoff from deep in the outfield.
Plus, I’ve successfully completed two Challenges, gotten stronger, completed a Hell Week, and kept off the 10 pounds of fat I lost in the early days of CrossFit. And had more fun doing so than I ever could have imagined.
Enough back pats. Here are my New Overall Goals:
- Do 3 WODs a week
- Work on 2 skills a week to eventually get to Level 1 of fitness
- Practice jumping rope until I can get the double under
- Learn to kip
- Continue to learn about and incorporate Paleo/Zone diet principles
This week I will:
- Do 2 WODs (just upgraded to the 3x memership, but wouldn’t you know, going on vacation this Weds.)
- Work on these 2 skills: handstands; running (both easy to do while vacationing)
- Do Week 6 of the 200 situps program
- Sign up for the Affiliate Cup Challenge (although participation might get squashed by work)
- Try to eat as cleanly as possible while hanging out living the good life this week
- Drink 96 oz. water per day
PS – Thanks to Jenny for discussing my fitness/goals with me 2 weeks ago, and always encouraging me to challenge myself.
