joint mobility

I couldn't finish the wall balls, only a few reps shy. It was a shit show. The extra foot made all the difference in the world for me in terms of being a suckfest. I was sure I was going to get in some double-unders. I was even ready to do a few reps one footed, since Dr.Dan stressed for me not to jump. I never got there. I was watching Will's timer knowing there was no f-ing way I was gonna finish. There was no way in hell I wanted to repeat that. I am still kinda walking like an ostrich today. Quads were super sore.
350 meter row to cool down....
hollow rocks 3 x 20
3/13- Appt. with Dr.Dan. He said I definitely sprained it. I believe I did it during dance class. It had been hurting me since then, but I thought it was from wearing my new boots. It wasn't. He advised for me not to run or jump, nothing dynamic. Any and all squats need to be done with my lifting shoes. He also suggested for me to do hollow rocks daily because my hips and lower back are jacked. Hip problem is from Tahitian dancing. The session with him was super painful today, but I felt great afterwards. Thanks Dr. Dan!
3/12- rest, joint mobility all day. In so much pain. Took a Norco twice to get out of pain. I RARELY take anything, thank goodness I had my c-section meds. heehee. Going to see Dr. Dan tomorrow.
3/11- BODY FEELS WRECKED! Ankle is NOT GOOD! 2 mile hill walk with Jackson. I almost had Chris come pick me up because my ankle couldn't take it. Oh crap. Not the ankle again.
I got hung up on the barbell. I knew this would happen. This weight isn't far off from my 1RM, so it is heavy for me. Ironically, it also felt lighter than it has before, however, after the first round my arms/shoulders were mad at me and didn't want to cooperate very easily. At one point in the 3rd round I couldn't even clean the bar. I had to stop, shake out my arms and tell myself that the bar was only 45#, it felt SO EASY after that. I got in my head too much. My technique may not have been pretty today, but it helped me get the job done. Toes to bars are normally pretty easy for me, but after the PJ my arms were wet noodles and it was hard to hang on.
I was aiming for 3 rounds, so I was very happy that I got it. Thanks to my Coach/judge Chris for helping me get through it, even if he no repped me a couple of times. I don't think I could have completed my mission without him.
On another note,my ankle has been bugging again. Dr.Dan adjusted it and taped me up. Guess I won't be running 12 miles a week. LOL. No big deal.
3/8- rest....fighting Jackson's cold with a lot of sleep. It worked.
3/9- 3 mile run 35 minutes. 1st mile, 9:40.
Slow, but getting MUCH faster. I used to have a 12 min. mile. My goal is to run 12 miles a week for the next month.... or at least until my photo shoot on the 26th. Heehee. Running is tough on the body, feels like everything gets thrown out of alignment every time I run.
Also, my asthma is continuing to act up, even when I am not engaging in physical activity. I have pulled out my nebulizer and now make sure my Albuterol is with me at all times. This may slow me down, but could NEVER stop me from training.
Oh goodness....I haven't been posting again. Let's see what I recall
3/2:
Open WOD 12.2
31 reps.... I did this late Friday night, after dinner. I wanted to get in in before I would be exhausted from the Oly Course this weekend.
3/3-3/4- Oly Lifting Trainer Course with Coach Burgener.....
I learned SO MUCH!!!! Coach B is amazing! Before this weekend, I hated snatching. Now I wished I waited to do 12.2, I could have gotten more reps using his cues. Unfortunately my shoulder was toast. I iced it a ton to get through the seminar. Hands down one of the best CrossFit weekends yet!
3/5- nothing?
3/6 rest
3/7- Dance class.... feel like I am getting sick now. Poor Jackson has a cough and a fever and has shared a little of the love with Mommy. Ugh. Preschool germs are never-ending.
2/26: rest? seriously....why can't I remember if I went to 24 Hour last night? Good lawd I am getting old.
2/27
24 Hour Fatness
Joint Mobility/foam roller
5x5 Front Squat (95#)- could have gone heavier, but not at 24 Hour. My right shoulder is still bugging from the burpee fun.
5 minutes on the stairs waiting for a treadmill to open up.
20 minutes on the treadmill.
10 minute mile at 1.0 incline. Fastest I have run in awhile on the treadmill. Knocked two minutes off. Still doing HIIT. Walk for 1 minute, run for 1 minute, sprint for 1 minute. Forgot my inhaler, so pretty much just walked after this w/ 10 incline. Note to self: do NOT forget inhaler.
3 rounds for quality:
40 squats
20 situps
30 bicycle sit-ups
45 second side plank static hold (right, then left)
stretched a little again before leaving. Dr. Dan taped my shoulder up tonight. I really need to get the lacrosse ball in there. It's still spasming.
Endoscopy is tomorrow, rest day tomorrow. I am hoping I am ok to get back on it to do the Open WOD on Wednesday. I am sure I will feel like crap from the sedation, but it's not like I am trying to win the Games. LOL.
I know for anyone else this score is terrible, but for me it's more than I thought I could do. My shoulder does not like burpees, but it did the job today. My asthma hasn't been super under control lately, doc is switching inhalers on me and by minute 4, my chest felt like it was in a knot. I took about 20-30 seconds of rest to breathe deeply, then kept going at the pace I could. Thank you Katie for judging me.
I am SUPER proud of everyone who participated and came out! The energy was awesome in the gym today!
I am participating in the Open just to participate while getting back into it, but mentally I get mind-fucked when I see how crappy my score is. Funny thing is, last year was the same story. I participated just getting back into CrossFit after having Jackson. I don't know what Wednesday's WOD announcement will be, but it can't be worse than today for me. My endoscopy is on Tuesday, so a few more planned rest days scheduled next week, then it's time to do my best. It's all I can do!
Shout out to my love, Chris. Proud of you babe. You went in with a plan today and knocked it out of the park! Thanks for reminding me everyday that with each WOD I do, I am one step closer to becoming stronger and more fit. Besos!
Warm-up:
Joint mobility
5 minute stairs at level 7
Front squats 5x5: 75#
Push Jerk 5x3: 65# so awkward....had to work from a bench, so had to clean it up every time. The only squat rack in the joint was taken. Blah.
My original plan was to do 5 rounds of 30 DU instead of singles, but I couldn't string more than 3 together during practice. I REALLY need to pull my rope out more. Doing plate burps (aka LaLanne Burpees) with the 24 Hour Fatness plate was not easy. This felt good. The ProAnox is kicking in and my energy is coming up!!
