Thanks Maribel.  I added more meat to my diet and its helping grin.

I want to post information to help anyone who’s wants to start Paleo/Zone.  If anyone has more ideas, please post for the rest of us.  Here is what I am doing to be on Paleo/Zone 90% of the time even with all the “bad” options around.

I went to Costco and bought:

Carbs
1. Mixed Greens (1 lb box) - this gives plenty of greens for each meal
2. Veges - celery, green peppers, mushrooms, etc
3. Fruits - WaterMelon, HoneyDew, blueberries, apples (any good fruit, basically)

Protein
1. Big Carton of Eggs
2. Sirlion Beef from the meat section (like 4 lbs per package)
3. Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs Bag (from the freezer section, very convenient)
4. [wanted] Turkey jerkey for snacks protein, but didn’t find it

Fat
1. 4 lb bag of almonds

And here is what I am eating for the majority of the meals:

Breakfast 3 hard boiled eggs, fruit, 9 almonds (3 blocks)
Lunch @work (big salad + meat) SF soup, Julie’s Kitchen, Whole Foods (4-5 blocks)
Snack almond, fruit, (egg, piece of meat, possibly turkey jerky) (2-3 blocks)
Dinner [beef, chicken] prepared with veges, spices and olive oil + raw mixed greens (4 - 5 blocks)

Keys to Execution
*Boil the Eggs ahead of time
*Cut the fruit ahead of time and put it into plastic boxes
*Plan to spend 30-60 minutes to cook every night
*Don’t use any salad dressing
*Try to be precise with portions (hard)
*Don’t eat from other people’s plates (especially ice cream)

Lastly, I am using “UltraMetbolism Cook Book.”  I am only cooking the Paleo friendly recipes.  Hope this helps someone get a jump start.

I found that I had a hard time keeping Paleo in certain social situations and my goodness so many came up! I found it difficult to let go of my tortillas, kinda like Scott and his magic oats.  wink  Otherwise, I can do Paleo and for the most part already do. I let go of grains a long time ago and a lot of health problems when away with it. Now when I do eat them, my stomach kills me.

Kevin, you should be taking a multi-vitamin with calcium. You could take a cal-mag supplement if you don’t feel you are getting enough calcium in your diet.

Kanishk- from looking at your nutrition- it appears as though you aren’t taking in enough protein and it could explain your lack of energy. Make sure you have protein at EVERY meal.

Should I be taking calcium supplements while on the Paleo Diet? Some paleo foods like broccoli, spinach and almonds have some calcium, but not nearly as much as dairy products.

I have been 95% Paleo/Zone last three weeks and I have seen myself lean out quite a bit (the good part).  Although, I am also experiencing lower energy levels too.

There are times when I can’t eat in blocks cause I don’t have protein available or I don’t have fat available (there always seems to be enough carbs around), what can we all do to make sure that there’s backup mini-blocks laying around home and work?  (i.e. I have a box of almonds for fat mini-blocks now)

Umm…I think the point was that we stop planting crops and raising chickens.

INSTEAD,
We hunt down wild chickens, raid pterodactyl nests, and eat the ruffage from the tallest mountains.  This nutrition will allow us to wrestle velociraptors, escape the T-1000, or get real dirty on the WOD.  I think…

Haha, haven’t seen any raptors yet, but I’ve stocked up on nuts and jerky at walgreens.  Been borrowing produce from the 19th floor, prepared to fight or flee if caught ;P

I’ve been with you guys on this one so far this week…video’s are exactly what I like, -small words and big pictures.

The sips of Koolaid are tasting very well…

In!  But I just read this post so today’s lunch doesn’t count grin.

P.S.  According to that video - we are supposed to plant our own crops and raise chickens in our back yards!

P.S.  My forum status moved from “junior member” to just ... “member”  !!!
