Okay, well that was fun, for a first 10k. This is the first workout I've done in months with an iPod, and I was damn glad of it, because I think otherwise the ennui of running 10,000 meters would have felled me before I could make it back to my garage. But with tracks like Screaming for Vengeance and Through the Fire and Flames, I prevailed! Actually, Gonna Fly Now came up on my shuffle right as I was starting the last 400m.
Got what were supposed to be the tuck front/back levers on video, and apparently I have very poor kinesthetic awareness; body was nowhere near parallel with the floor and I couldn't tell. Jerks were also a little sloppy: none would have counted in competition due to pressout. 203 and 210 are PRs by 18 and 25lbs.
Afternoon:
Five rounds for time of:
5 DL, 275#
10 Burpees
Time: 5:32
R1-D4-I3-T6
PR is 4:41, but that was when I was letting myself drop DLs. I need better collars: plates kept sliding and I wasted a lot of time pulling them back on and screwing on these crappy collars.
There's something really great about lifting every single plate you own. If I include the collars and the fractional plates (okay, they're actually 2'' flat washers) this might have actually been a little over 352.5#. But since my steel plates are super cheap and I suspect they may be too light, I'm going to just call it 350.
Workout:
"Nancy"
Five rounds for time of:
Run 400m
15 OHS, 95#
Time: 15:15
R4-D4-I4-T72
Not technically a PR, although the last time I did Nancy was with a bar that was slightly too light, a rack, a butt ball and a 400m turnaround. Today was at a track with no ball and a heavier bar. I'm a little disappointed with this, I wish I had slept more last night.
~30 minutes of random movements, active rest/play
BW OHS: only got 3 reps
2pd. KBS
1.5 and 2pd snatches
30" box jumps
1 rope climb, w/legs and 20# vest.
Workout:
"Upside Down Helen"
Three rounds for time of:
Run 400m
21 Dumbbell swings, 52.5#
12 HSPU
Time: 16:59
R3-D5-I3-T20
Ugh, not my day. It probably doesn't help that I've been doing some supplemental heavy pressing lately, but dang. I also absolutely hate dumbbell swings. It's impossible to grip the goddamn thing, and I had to put it down several times. I may not be a huge fan of kettlebells on the whole, but for crying out loud if I need to swing something, make it a kettle.
In the morning I attempted the mainsite workout (150 pullup variants) twice, and each time had to stop due to equipment problems. Then in the afternoon I tried again and managed to get five full rounds in 10:30, was too burnt out to do the final five.
Today wasn't a very good training day. Hang power snatches in the morning were very disappointing, and I had low energy throughout the day. Evening was time for team training, which was slightly better, but I was tired, and it showed. Once I'm fresh and rested all of the goals on the checklist should be no problem for me. Ring dips are easy, as are C2B pullups.
Warmup:
Rowing: peak at 1:18
Butterfly kip practice
Press (135, 145, 150#)
Workout:
Run 5k
Time: 24:54
R1-D5-I4-T24
Well, faster than my last 5k, but still nothing to boast about. Felt smoother, better-oiled, for lack of any other way to describe it. Still, my running mechanics could use some work.
