The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has promoted a food guide pyramid that has unwittingly led to the majority of America’s obesity and health problems. They recommend large amounts of grains, dairy and other processed foods, which have proven to be unhealthy and continue to make our society diseased and overweight.

In its place, I propose a diet of high-quality proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables and good fats, also known as The Paleo Diet.

My grand Uncle Jack LaLanne, a pioneer in the field of proper nutrition and physical fitness in America taught me that in order to achieve optimum health, we must first avoid processed foods. Instead, choose high-quality proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, and good fats. 50 years ago, The Paleo Diet concept did not exist, however, Jack preached nearly all of the principles of this "Stone Age" diet. He has always said... “If man made, don’t eat it.”

Eating smaller-portioned balanced meals more frequently throughout the day can also lead to optimum hormonal control. Jack is still a proponent of regular workouts that incorporate a variety of strength and conditioning exercises. He recommends regular sleeping patterns and getting to bed early. Jack also emphasized that stress management is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Most of all, Jack taught me to believe in myself, to take pride in my health and to set realistic goals. To this day he continues to preach that with a positive attitude, “anything in life is possible, if you make it happen.”

So get ready to be in the best shape of your life! Soon you’ll be helping and inspiring your own friends or family to make a change for the better. Together, we will reach your goals. You can do it! Read on to learn all you’ll need to shed body fat forever.

“There are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened. We all have a choice. You can decide which type of person you want to be. I have always chosen to be in the first group.” -Mary Kay Ash
